Floral Ribbons by Laura J. Perin

This is my latest finish.  The President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the ANG gave us a challenge to finish our UFOs.  We were to list as many as we wished and as we finish them, share them during Show and Tell at the meetings.  In a moment of insanity, I listed TEN (don't ask how many others I have!) and this is number 3.  It is called FLORAL RIBBONS by Laura J. Perin and was published in the March 2009 issue of Needle Pointers.  On to number four!  Thanks for looking.

This is my latest finish.  It is called SHERWOOD GARDEN by Needle Delights.  It was offered as an online class through Shining Needle Society - if you have never taken one of their classes, you are definitely missing something special.  I did change the outside border of the piece because I had trouble with the stitch and I really like the way it turned out.  Changing anything is a HUGE step for me - definitely not something I would have done when I was younger.  Thanks for looking.

Finished this last night - it is called STAINED GLASS QUILT by From Nancy's Needle.  It was a class piece that my ANG chapter started a couple of years ago and although I loved the colors, I found the repetition to be a little boring, so it became a UFO.  Decided that sometimes boring is good, especially when one does not feel like concentrating because of too many of life's "distractions", so I dug it out and found it to be therapeutic.

This is my "Michael Boren" Wall in my living room.  The center piece is called Shady Colors - it is totally one of a kind, since it had to be redesigned in order to be taught at Callaway.  Clockwise around it (starting from the top left) are Arabella Reborn, a dual piece with Quilt Patch and an unreleased piece for which I stitched the models, Stella Polaris which is another totally unique piece because I chose the colors, and Daphne Reborn.  I look at the wall and cannot believe that I actually stitched all of them!  Thanks for looking.

Sahara by Terry Dryden

This is the second class piece from Callaway 2013 that I have finished.  It is totally different from anything that I have ever stitched and I really love it.  Part of the class was learning how to use Copic Markers to change the color of the canvas background.  That was a little intimidating, but Terry is an excellent teacher and she put us at ease.  If you ever have a chance to take a class from her, I highly recommend it!

Trillium by Cara Hayes

This is Trillium, by Cara Hayes of Fayetteville, NC.  It was a one day class that I took at Callaway Gardens School of Needlework this year.  I highly recommend her as a teacher - very calm, organized and patient - just the qualities a student needs.  I don't think I've ever finished a class piece this quickly!

First Finish of 2013 is very special to me

This is FRANKIE by Michael Boren of StitchPlay Designs.  The design is based on Frank Lloyd Wright's work, and when I saw it for the first time, I fell in love with it and knew I HAD to stitch it.  I started it in Michael's class at Callaway in January 2011 but many other stitching obligations came between then and now.  I finally finished it a few nights ago and it is now at the framer's.  When I get it back, it will be given a place of honor in my home.  Thanks for looking!
